October–December

12-Week Warriors Flag Football Curriculum

A 12-week October–December block that builds skills, confidence, and team spirit—while making room for the late-November Thanksgiving break.

Phase 1 · Weeks 1–4

Foundational Mechanics & Fun

Foundational mechanics and fun set the tone for a confident start.

Tuesdays

Kindergarten–2nd grade

  • Fitness focus: Animal Agility games, including bear crawls and crab walks, to build core strength and body control.
  • Football skill: Alligator Chomp catching with hands and arms away from the chest, plus point-the-shoulder, step-and-throw mechanics.
  • Team connection: Name-Game Huddles, where players call out a teammate’s name before passing the ball.

Thursdays

3rd–5th grade

  • Fitness focus: Dynamic warm-ups, ladder drills for footwork, and short-burst acceleration mechanics.
  • Football skill: Basic route running with the 3-step Slant and Hitch, plus the 3-finger triangle catching technique.
  • Team connection: Co-Captain Duos lead their team through opening warm-up lines together.

Phase 2 · Weeks 5–8

Teamwork, Strategy & Communication

Players learn how to communicate, move together, and make smart choices on the field.

Tuesdays

Kindergarten–2nd grade

  • Fitness focus: Sharks and Minnows for open-field running, spatial awareness, and flag-pulling evasion.
  • Football skill: Defending a player by mirroring movement and learning where the scrimmage line is.
  • Team connection: Huddle Speed-Drills challenge kids to race to a designated spot and put hands in the middle within five seconds.

Thursdays

3rd–5th grade

  • Fitness focus: Change-of-direction drills with cone shuffles and backpedaling.
  • Football skill: Zone defense concepts and basic quarterback-to-receiver timing routes.
  • Team connection: Design-a-Play gives teams three minutes to create a trick play for scrimmages.

Phase 3 · Weeks 9–12

The Warriors Cup & Sportsmanship

The Warriors Cup brings the season together with friendly competition and big sportsmanship.

Respective program days

Kindergarten–5th grade

  • Format: Structured internal scrimmages with co-ed teams that stay together for the final four weeks.
  • The twist: Teams earn extra points for high-fives, picking up dropped flags for opponents, and positive cheering.
  • Final week award: The Warriors Sportsmanship Cup celebrates character, effort, and team leadership with individual medals.
